Fashion Essentials
• Solid colors are best. Bold or busy patterns draw attention to the clothing and away from faces.
• Avoid bright colors (ie. yellow, red, green, and fluorescents). Bright colors are distracting and may adversely affect skin tone.
• Long sleeve dresses and shirts are recommended. Bare arms can detract from the face and are often unflattering. (However, short sleeves are fine for infants and small children.)
• Select traditional clothing for children. While play clothes and other outfits may be cute, traditional clothes will help create timeless portraits. |
• Coordinate clothing for group photos. Keep the tonal range the same. Do not mix casual and formal attire.
• Avoid unnecessary jewelry. Jewelry can be distracting, so limit it to pieces with special meaning (ie. wedding rings, sentimental heirlooms, etc.)
